We're here in the rain forest of Costa Rica, managing a Tree House B&B, where the tree houses (seven total) are high amongst the trees...our neighbors consist of loads of hummingbirds, some monkeys, sloths, frogs, snakes, iguanas, geckos and various other critters...we look forward to sharing with you some pics and blog entries as we continue on our jungle journey...

Just the ladies. . .
Before the fellows showed up for the picture, Lucy took one of the ladies who work here. The fellows were all out working (that's our story and we're sticking to it).

Relaxing down below. . .
And below are some hammocks that folks can relax in. Word of warning: Don't ever, ever run and jump into a hammock.

Here's an updated
Staff picture and Bejuca and Mini-B even got into the picture. Akila is a bit too hyper to sit still for a picture.

Here's the other side
Of the bathroom, with the recessed sink. There's still a lot of folks that will make a reservation and then show up and ask if there are bathrooms in the tree houses.

Getting close
To opening up the new tree house. Here is the shower area, and there are screens there, so it's almost like taking a shower outside. Though there aren't any bugs or critters that will crawl in.

Happy Father's Day!
To all, and especially to Herb Eidson and Fred Aviles.
Herb, of the Wisconsin contingent, actually blurted out the correct guess for the mystery structure on the phone recently, but since it hasn't been recorded here on the blog, it doesn't count as an official guess.
Maybe he will read this and get the guess up before someone else.

Nearing completion. . .
Just about finished. MaryAnn, the masseuse who gives folks massages on the porch of their tree house, was curious and asked what it was for. We told her it was for her own personal massage area. The guests can lay out on the steps and she just has to walk up and down.

More monkeys. . .
Here's a bit of a close-up. They get way out on the skinny branches to grab the leaves and the branches will dip down and they still keep going out and the branch keeps drooping. Luckily, no broken branches or falling monkeys.

Monkey time. . .
The family of howler monkeys was right out in front of our house in the trees the other day. The zoom wasn't the best on the camera, but you can make out the little critters (including some youngsters) and they were very entertaining to watch jumping around.

Moving along. . .
Here is Palomino (left) and his son, Panocha, working away and putting down the wood flooring after getting the shell set up.
Any thoughts?

Really, when you think about it
This is fairly impressive lens work by the editorial department, considering how slow a sloth moves, typically.
Rolando, our night watchman, found this young sloth on the ground and brought him up to the house to show us and a couple of guests.
The editorial department, being fleet of foot and mind, grabbed the first camera and fired off a shot--sans flash.
Really, things weren't moving that fast, and the camera ran out of batteries right after this one shot.
So, it looks like things are moving very quickly, but not really at all. This has to be some sort of photographic technique that only true professionals can capture, is what the editorial department is thinking.

Everyone will get a couple of guesses as to what this is. . .
As we'll post a couple of pictures as it progresses. No guess is too silly (trust us on that) and it is now completed and nearly open for business.

In the homestretch V
Here is the rest of the bathroom area. The sink is all wood and recessed into a wood cabinet.
There are still some finishing touches to be put into the bathroom (mirrors, shelves, etc.).

In the homestretch IV. . .
This is the shower. There will not be glass in the open area, but a big screen, so it is almost like showering outdoors.
During construction, we were lucky enough to spot several large iguanas (probably around 3 to 5 feet in length) lounging up high in the branches, visible from the shower area.

In the homestretch III
And here is another view of the inside. The previous picture showed what it looks like inside (to the left). Here you can see one of the ceiling fans and the air conditioner and the holes where the windows will soon be.

In the homestretch II
This is the side and part of the front (the air conditioner is not pictured, but is on the opposite wall of where you see the bench bed.

In the home stretch
This is the inside of the newest tree house. The windows are still to be installed, but most of the woodworking is done.
You can see the air conditioner to the left. To the right of the window is the wall where the shower/toilet/sink is located.
Things are progressing nicely and we'll be welcoming the first guests soon.
