Pooch time. . .

A lot of times, Bejuca gets lost in the love given to Mini-B. However, Bejuca is probably more lovable than the temperamental Min-Pin/Chihuahua that dominates the hotel.

At night, when we can't find Bejuca, we just have to follow our less-than heightened human noses to where we can smell the food (or we already know where the pizza delivery guys have been to) and Bejuca will be waiting on the porch of the tree house, visiting the guests and hoping for some food.

Happy, happy time. . .

Coming to the end of summer down in Costa Rica, and that's the time when the sloths, squirrels and monkeys are holing up to give birth and bring up the youngsters.

We've been lucky the past few days to see some enormous sloths hanging out in the trees, just waiting to give birth. One, in particular, is the largest we have seen.

There is a small baby with the family of howler monkeys and it has started to get off of its mother's back and do some climbing on its own.

The squirrels aren't shooting around as much and snagging up the fruit for the birds, as they have already loaded up in anticipation of the little ones coming along.

Test video. . .

On our Facebook page, guests will leave photos and videos. Some are really amazing, like this one below, of an anteater down at the end of our trail on property.

Being largely ignorant of all things Web-based, I'm going to paste the link from the Facebook video here and hopefully the three of you will be able to see it.

Please let me know if this works or not and then we can try a couple of others (or you can just go to our Facebook page).

You just never know. . .

We recently had a great elderly couple here at the hotel for a four-night stay. Both retired and enjoying traveling and meeting new folks.

One morning at breakfast, we were talking and the husband harrumphed: "Too many folks have too many tattoos these days, what's wrong with folks? I don't see a lot of tattoos in Costa Rica."

As luck would have it, another couple were in the middle of a seven-night stay. They rented Harley Davidsons. Yes, they were all tatted up.

At breakfast the following day, the couple ended up sitting across from the other at the rancho. After about 5 minutes,

Back in the saddle. . .

We're back in the jungle after an all-too brief visit to Hawaii.

We had a great time catching up with friends and food. It was just less than a week and there wasn't enough time to spend with everyone, though we're very thankful for the time we did get to see folks.

It had been three years since we had been back home, and we are not going to wait another three before we get back.

We left Honolulu at around noon on a Monday, flew 5.5 hours to Los Angeles, then had an hour or so before we flew about 5 hours to Miami on a red-eye flight. In Miami, we had 4 hours to wait before the last leg to San Jose (2.5 hours). Then there was a 2-hour drive to get back to the hotel.

Not more than 5 minutes after we got back home (to a raucous reception from Bejuca and Mini-B) a van pulled up and out popped a family of six that had arrived to check in.

We've been pretty much going since then, so apologies for the delay in putting anything up.
